I think I’m going to give this one aaannn 8.5/10. Really great, especially that beginning half with the back-and-forth with Lapis and Peridot, but this episode is all just set up for the next one, which I cannot WAIT to blog and hopefully will be happening sooooon within the next few days
I don’t have an issue so much with what Amethyst wants to do so much as why she wants to do it.
Even after Steven tells her - hey, you can be you without tying your self esteem to Jasper and measuring yourself against her, she still feels like she has to prove something to herself. She wants to fight for all these “weird holes” (okay Crewniverse we’ve gotta calm down), but in reality I think it’s just a guise to finally get a chance to go toe to toe with Jasper and ultimately…lose.
So Homeworld was in a rush for more foot soldiers, slapped the Beta kindergarten together, and out popped our perfect little Jasper. She was born straight into the war, and seemingly came out swinging with an intrinsic hatred for her enemy and for her birthplace. So all Jasper’s ever really known is war.
